KEIKO OKAMOTO began her musical journey in her native Japan, first on piano at age 6 and then learning the flute in grade school. After earning a Bachelor of Music degree from Nihon University in Tokyo, she won positions in both the Central Army Band of Japan and the Tokyo Symphony on flute and piccolo. Eventually, the pull of jazz drew her to the United States, where she attended Berklee School of Music in Boston. In Los Angeles, she has played with the San Fernando Symphony, Palisades Symphony and jazz, chamber and Latin groups, particularly the Mariachi Divas. In addition to playing classical and jazz flute, Okamoto is an accomplished arranger and teaches piano and flute in Santa Monica, Pacific Palisades and Brentwood.
